Committee for reviewing existing programme and advertisement codes

The Minister of State for External Affairs and Information & Broadcasting, Shri Anand Sharma said in the Lok Sabha that the government had set up a committee to review the existing programmes and advertisement codes prescribed under the Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act, 1995 and rules framed in it in order to contain the adverse effect of programmes and advertisements on viewers, specially the children.

Government considers policy on broadcast of mobile TV

The Indian government is considering a policy for allowing the opening up of terrestrial television broadcasting so as to make it possible for operators to offer mobile TV services. The proposed policy inter-alia covers all issues such as licensing, regulatory mechanism, cross-media restrictions, foreign investment, sharing of infrastructure etc.
